Tour Description
The waterfall is located on the Orkhon River in Bat-Ulzii, Uvurkhangai province. The waterfall was formed by a unique combination of volcanic eruptions and earthquakes about 20.000 years ago. The fall is naturally most impressive after heavy rain. Its width is about 10 m. When a smaller river named Ulaan (meaning Red) flows into Orkhon river the water drops over the edge with height over 24 and makes the waterfall. That is why, locals called it Ulaantsutgalan which meaning Red's Flows. It is frozen from the second half of November till the end of March. Therefore, it is frozen for about 130 days in winter. The frozen ice-wall’s height is 24 m and it is formed like 85-90 degree vertical ice-cliff. Thus, it is considered as W15 category ice-climbing spot. Also, there are several (different) ice-walls are formed in winter those give more opportunities for professional and amateur climbers.

Day 1
Arrive in Ulaanbaatar transfer to the hotel in city center and welcome dinner. /Hotel D/
Day 2
After breakfast head to Kharkhorin have lunch en route. When you arrive in Kharkhorin to see Karakorum museum, Erdene zuu - oldest and most beautiful buddhist monastery. /Hostel B,L,D/
Day 3
Orkhon river valley is a UNESCO world heritage registered fascinating landscape of beautiful place with interesting historical sites. Ulaan tsutgalan waterfall referred to as the cradle of nomadic culture it contains many ancient graves and historic sites within its boundaries. The area is relatively densely populated by nomadic herders and allows plenty of encounters with them, each one an authentic cultural exchange. Ulaan Tsutgalan 24 meter high waterfall formed by a small tributary dropping in to a fault in which the main body of Orkhon river flows. /Ger B,L,D/
Day 4
Ice challenge trip organizer will ensure safety and ice climbing equipments. After breakfast you will climb to the highest frozen water fall of Mongolia. You will visit and stay overnight at Nomadic family near to Elsen tasarkhai. /Ger B,L,D/
Day 5
After breakfast return drive to Ulaanbaatar, have lunch en route and transfer to the hotel in UB take a rest. In the evening have farewell dinner. /Hotel B,L,D/

The True Story of the Weeping Camel
